The Complete Letters of Thomas and Jane Carlyle, currently published by Duke and Edinburgh Universities, will begin to be available on the internet in 2001. Try Duke University Library for information.

Literary Criticism and Biography

There is far from comprehensive cover, but it is growing quickly. A regularly up-dated set of links can be found at the Internet Public Library.
The Victorian Online Database at the University of Alberta, Canada, is invaluable. A search under 'Sartor Resartus', for example, gives references to 77 articles and books, some with abstracts immediately available.
The Archives of VICTORIA@LISTSERV.INDIANA.EDU, a very active discussion group on all matters Victorian, can be searched for recent material about Carlyle.
Brown University has much specialised material about Carlyle on the internet, under Thomas Carlyle-an Overview. There are several essays by Prof. George Landow and his pupils, especially about Hudson's Statue, and Carlyles literary relations and influence on other writers.

Edinburgh University has a Carlyle Society, founded in 1929, which holds regular meetings and publishes papers.
